2007-12-05 - Coreg and Banner Ads - the Connection?

from Dorothy Young, President of SilverCarrot

Posted by: Lindsay Mure-O'Neill

A few months ago I edited an article for TCI entitiled "The FTC Missing Something?”. In the article a very well known coreg company (SilverCarrot) was exposed for their less-than-ethical consumer marketing efforts. On the eve of the article's publication I got a very concerned email from the President of SilverCarrot. She mentioned that she was working VERY hard to clean up the business, and that the article highlighted a site that was being phased out – making it even harder for her to do her job.

Hear me out, I don’t want to make people’s lives harder – I was just doing my part to bring a VERY shady aspect of our biz to light. Luckily for SilverCarrot their President held up her end of the bargain. The site no longer misinforms consumers, nor tricks them into signing up for offers they don't want or need. A WIN for SilverCarrot's new Pres!

Since then I've come to respect Dorothy Young for her very hard work as SiverCarrot's President. It can't be an easy feat to take a very messy ball of clay and mold it into a clean, well molded figure of reliability. Not only is she cleaning up the lead gen side of SilverCarrot, but she is concurrently promoting the launch of the new iFlipot Technology. Brava!

SILVERCARROT TURNS BANNER ADS
INTO DIRECT MARKETING ROI MACHINE

iFlipit Technology Solves Online Customer Acquisition Issues

NEW YORK, December 5—Online lead generation pioneer SilverCarrot introduces iFlipit, a powerful, targeted system that converts traditional internet advertising banners into a source of highly-qualified, non-incentivized leads and information inquiries for advertisers, at Ad:Tech, today and tomorrow at the New York Hilton in Booth #506.

Dorothy Young, Silver Carrot, CEO and President, reported that iFlipit addresses industry concerns about quality, transparency and legal challenges of traditional “lead gen” by harnessing SilverCarrot’s proprietary “Bullseye” offer-generation engine that now transforms banner advertising into a powerful direct marketing medium.

Publishers, advertisers and consumers are already seeing the advantages of using iFlipit, according to Young. She notes that:

• iFlipit benefits publishers by increasing “stickiness” because consumers can respond to offers while remaining on the original page—a vast improvement over traditional banners that force viewers to “click away” from the website they were viewing. The technology is much easier to use than traditional rich media and is delivering higher CPM than the existing ad exchange model technology.

• iFlipit benefits advertisers by providing quality leads because consumers who express a genuine interest in your product tend to convert at higher rates. Leads flow from major, high-quality, content-rich sites that are identified upfront and generated without any additional incentives.

• iFlipit benefits consumers by allowing them to respond to offers of genuine interest in a way that’s fast, easy and not disruptive to their web experience.

“Literally hundreds of sites offering ‘free this or free that,’ have destroyed the traditional lead generation model for consumers and advertisers alike,” said Young, the driving force behind the iFlipit system.

“Until now, advertisers couldn’t determine whether consumers expressed interest in their products simply to get a free product or other incentive,” she said, “and lead quality deteriorated dramatically as these and similar practices got worse.”

“We are proud to be the first company to deliver fully-transparent, pre-qualified, un-incentivized, quality leads for marketers and publishers,” she added. “We are thrilled with the consumer, advertiser, and publisher reaction to the iFlipit end-to-end solution, which has been delivering measurable results for advertisers and publishers since testing began on June 9th. We have already built out a network of strategic partnerships with sites including MenuPages, Geosign, Batanga and Beliefnet. Word is spreading and we are rapidly signing on additional partners.”
