2007-10-24 - Get a Second Opinion and Get Good Leads

By: Lindsay Mure-O'Neill, President of The Femme Network

Years ago a very smart person recommended that I get a second opinion on everything… on my health, finances, graphic design work, business ideas, car purchases, marketing plans, writing strategies… EVERYTHING. This has proven to be a very valuable, but difficult task for me.

The value is that I make less mistakes – especially when I ask the right people to help. Some people want to give you an opinion whether you want it or not, but the people you really should get an opinion from are your clients, co-workers, employees and experts (doctors, lawyers, etc.). Why? Here’s why:

1) Clients are the key to wealth. Without their opinion you will not know how to work with them, they’ll be unhappy and they won’t work with you anymore. On the flip-side, if you ask for their opinion you will have a road map to making them happy. Happy clients = more $$.

2) Co-workers are the key to strategy. They will have varying opinions based on their different experiences. By tapping into multiple opinions from people who have the same goal (growth of the biz), you can create an infallible strategy for the next steps of your biz.

3) Employees are the key to growth. When I was an employee, nothing made me work harder than when upper management asked for my opinion on ANY biz related topic – then use my opinion to help set a plan in motion. I worked on that plan like it was my brainchild, and relished in the success. More success = growth.

4) Experts are the key to saving time. Why do oodles of research when you can ask an expert? Save time + make better choices = duh.

During my 5 year stint in the online lead gen business I exercised the “2nd opinion” strategy many times. If I came across a new coreg site/company to buy leads from I would ask my clients and co-workers what they knew about the company and their lead quality BEFORE buying leads from them. Doing this made me an “expert” in lead buying – a very valuable position I worked hard for.

So, as an expert in online lead buying, what opinions do I have? MANY. And if you email me I will happily share my experiences and opinions - good and bad. However, this article is not about my opinions. It was written to encourage you to ask the RIGHT people for their opinions. By doing this you will get better leads, attract the perfect clients, and hire the right employees.

Don’t take it from me. Get a second opinion.
